About Dwellingplantips

Dwellingplantips organises board game sessions for workplaces across Liverpool. We handle the games, the tables, the rules explanations and the scoring, so that teams can sit down together for a couple of hours without anyone needing to read a rulebook in advance.

How the company started

Dwellingplantips was founded in 2022 by a small group of people who had spent years running informal game nights for friends and colleagues around Liverpool. What began as a favour for a nearby office — bringing along a box of strategy games for a Friday afternoon — turned into repeated requests from other local businesses. Within the first year it was clear there was steady demand for someone to manage the logistics of it: choosing games that suit a mixed group, setting up tables in an office or a hired room on Penny Lane, and keeping sessions on schedule so they fit inside a lunch break or an afternoon slot.

Four years on, the team has grown to eight people, covering game selection, on-site facilitation, and equipment transport. We now offer 13 distinct services, from single-game afternoons to multi-round tournaments, and we have completed 280 bookings for 160 client organisations across nine districts in and around Liverpool. About 40 clients a year book with us, and 41 of our clients to date have returned for a second event — a figure we track carefully because repeat bookings tell us more about the work than any marketing claim would.

Mission and how we approach the work

Our aim is straightforward: to make board games a workable, low-friction option for workplace social time. That means turning up with games already sorted by group size and complexity, explaining rules in plain terms within a few minutes, and adjusting on the spot if a game is not landing with a particular group. We are not trying to run a corporate training exercise dressed up as a game night — the sessions are meant to be a break from work, not an extension of it.

Looking ahead, we want to keep the operation at a size where every session is still planned by someone who has actually read the client's brief, rather than handed off to a generic checklist. Growth for its own sake is not the goal; consistency across each of the 13 services we offer is.

1

Clear planning

Every booking gets a written run sheet covering game order, timings and table layout, agreed with the client before the day.

2

Straight answers

We reply to enquiries within roughly 2 hours during business hours, and we say plainly if a game or format will not suit a group.

3

Local knowledge

Based on Penny Lane, we know which venues across Liverpool have space for large groups and which suit smaller, quieter sessions.
